The Appalachian Harvest Herb Hub is hosting an open house event! Join us on February 15th between 4 and 6pm at Appalachian Harvest in Duffield, VA. We plan on having a local food vendor available onsite (subject to availability). Come and tour the Herb Hub, ask questions, and receive information on all things herbs!
Dylan and Denita own and operate Creative Seeds Farm. They specialize in growing greens year-round sustainably. They have years of experience and use practices such as companion planting, succession planting, and native plant selection. Dylan and Denita are experts in their field and we will learn so much from them!
We will be discussing starting seeds indoors and outdoors, how to best care for them, and when to start them at the YMCA garden in Tazewell.
This month's Grow Your Own workshop focuses on garden planting. We will cover topics such as crop rotation, companion planting, planting best practices, and give attendees an opportunity to plant in our YMCA community garden. This workshop also includes the distribution of: tools, onion sets, seed potatoes, and summer (warm season) seeds for program participants!
Guests will experience a 3 course, locally sourced seasonal meal prepared and served family style by Katlin and Mohsin Kazmi of The Pakalachian.
